President

Get rid of your cards first. Take the crown. Try to keep it.

President is the classic card game also known as Scum or Asshole, for four players, against a table of AI opponents. Each hand decides a pecking order: President, Vice-President, Citizen and Scumbag. That order carries into the next hand, where the Scumbag must hand their two best cards to the President. Staying on top is hard; climbing back up is harder.

How it plays

• A standard 52-card deck plus two Jokers. 2s and Jokers are power cards that can beat bigger combinations.
• Lead with a single, a pair, a triple or four of a kind. Everyone else must beat it or pass.
• The first player out is President. The last player holding cards is the Scumbag.
• A short interactive tutorial teaches the rules as you play.

• 17 AI opponents, each with their own play style, from careless beginners to hard tacticians. Some have to be unlocked.
• An ELO rating that tracks your skill against the AIs.
• Dozens of badges, many in bronze, silver and gold tiers, for streaks, comebacks, and lucky hands.
• Unlockable card decks and card backs, including Illustrated and Scottish decks.
• Adjustable game speed, hints and tooltips.
• Plays completely offline. You don't need an account or an internet connection.
• If you quit in the middle of a game, it picks up where you left off.

Privacy

Everything stays on your PC. The game collects no personal data and sends nothing over the internet.

Installing

Download, unzip, and run President.exe, or install it through the itch.io app.

• "Windows protected your PC"? This message appears for games from small independent developers without a paid code-signing certificate. Click More info → Run anyway.
• The game needs Microsoft Edge WebView2, which is already on Windows 11 and nearly all Windows 10 PCs. If the game window stays blank, install the free WebView2 Runtime from Microsoft.
